CASE

MUNICIPALITIES PROVIDING FIRST TIME EXPERIENCES

OVER 20 MUNICIPALITIES have been enabling first work experiences to targeted specific groups.

Focus has been providing short (from few hours to max few days) to young people between 14-17 years, young under 24 or 29 years, “just arrived”, immigrants etc - depending on the municipality needs.

Booked hours are allocated to create suitable tasks, e.g.

  • to municipality’s own internal units e.g. elderly and disabled care, tourism, events, maintenance work etc. and

  • to local NGO’s.

There has been over 200 NGO’s participating in this model.

Important criteria has been to book only those workers who belong to target group and do not yet have any or many work experiences. By providing them first experiences they have much better chances of getting further opportunities.
